Lenses
Lens selection . . .
one of the most important parts of the eyecare journey.
Everybody’s lifestyle, visual requirements, prescription, frame choice and budget are different and therefore everyone who requires glasses will be seen by a Dispensing Optician, who is an expert in lens design to discuss lens options.
As an independent optical practice, we are not tied to a lab so will offer you the best products depending on your requirements.
Single Vision
This are lenses that are designed to work at one distance. They are typically for people with one prescription (Pre Presbyopia), so for either far distance (TV or Driving) or for a Reading or Intermediate working Distance. Your visual requirements will be discussed with you during your eye examination to ensure the prescription will suit your working distance.
Progressive Lenses / Varifocal Lenses.
Progressive or Varifocal Lenses are designed to correct Presbyopic Prescriptions (When someone has a different prescription for distance and near). This lens has a graduated power. The distance vision is through the top part of the lens, then an intermediate area below and a reading area in the bottom part of the lens. They have no segment and look the same as a single vision lens. These lenses come in many designs and not all progressive lenses are the same. We are confident to be providing the best lenses for your budget.
Bifocal
Bifocal lenses are split in two parts, it is normally a distance prescription with a smaller reading segment in the lower part of the lens. On Bifocals the wearer will see the reading segment.
Anti-Fatigue Lenses
These lenses are designed for people who don’t have a specific reading prescription but find that their eyes are getting tired for they are experiencing eye strain symptoms for prolonged periods of close work or computer work. These lenses will have your normal everyday prescription in with an added ‘boost’ of power in the bottom for closer work.
Occupational Lenses
Lenses that are specifically for your work environment. During your test we will discuss with us your computer working distances? what height your screens are? how close you read? what your visual demands are for your job? So we can recommend some occupational options.
