Contact Lenses
Have you ever wondered if contact lenses would work for you?
As an Independent Optician we can stock Contact Lenses from a wide range of suppliers allowing us to choose the best available lenses on the market. Whether you would like to wear Contact lenses everyday or for social use our Optometrists are here to advise you on the best type of lenses for you.
During our Contact Lens consultation the Optometrist can determine the best contact lens option for you by taking into consideration:
- Your prescription
- How often you would like to wear your lenses
- Your Lifestyle requirements
Before any contact lens is fitted we assess the anterior eye health including the tear quality. You will be taught how to insert and remove the contact lenses safely as well understanding how to care for your lenses before given lenses to take home. Trial lenses will be given to you so you can try them in your own environment before deciding on whether you would like to purchase.
All contact lens patients will require regular check ups to ensure the eyes are healthy and the lenses continue to fit correctly. You can opt to pay per appointment or sign up to our monthly scheme.

Types of contact lenses
These lenses are disposed of after every use, saving time on cleaning and making it a more convenient lens to use. These lenses are ideal for both occasional use such as playing sport as well as full time wearers.
Using a new lens everyday reduces the risk of eye infections and they are better for those who suffer from eye allergies too.
Daily lenses can correct Toric (Astigmatism) and Multifocal (Presbyopia) prescriptions.
These lenses are reused and therefore require a simple cleaning regime. They are available in a wide range of prescriptions compared to daily lenses. Full time wearers may prefer this option, as they are a more cost-effective option compared to dailies.
Modern reusable lenses are made up of Silicone Hydrogel material allowing more oxygen to the front of the eye. This allows for longer wearing time without compromising eye health.
Daily lenses can correct Toric (Astigmatism) and Multifocal (Presbyopia) prescriptions.
Astigmatism is where is your eye is shaped more like a rugby ball than a football. This means the light is focused at more than one place in the eye, which in turn causes distortion at all distances.
A 'Toric' contact will correct the astigmatism and give you clearer vision compared to a standard 'spherical' contact lens.
Toric lenses are available for daily and monthly wearers.
As we age, our eyes lose the ability to focus close up (accommodate), due to the lens inside our eye not being able to change shape like it used to. It usually begins from the age of 45 years and is a natural part of the ageing process. It is known as presbyopia.
Multifocal contact lenses will allow us to see close up so we can read more comfortably without the need for glasses, whilst also correcting our distance vision.
Multifocal lenses are available for daily and monthly wearers.
* Newly available in 2021 *
Up until very recently we were limited to correcting someone who required a toric and multifocal lens all in one. They were only available as a ‘tailor made’ lens that is costly and the lens was worn for 3 months before disposal.
This year there have been two brands providing a soft monthly lens at an affordable cost. Please contact us to discuss this if you would like further information.
